Flag of Jersey

The Bailiwick of Jersey is a British Crown Dependency off the coast of Normandy, France. As well as the island of Jersey itself, the bailiwick includes two groups of small islands that are no longer permanently inhabited, the Minquiers and Écréhous, and the Pierres de Lecq and other rocks and reefs. Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey are often referred to as 'the Channel Islands' but they are not a constitutional or political unit. The three Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of man each has a separate relationship to the British Crown. They are not part of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is constitutionally responsible for the defence of Jersey. Jersey is not a part of the European Union but has a special relationship with it, being treated as part of the European Community for the purposes of free trade in goods.

The Royal Legacy of Queen Victoria - King George VI

  Inside #???? (90): TBI

George VI, great grandson to Queen Victoria, came to the throne on 11 December 1936, following the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII. He reigned as King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth until his death in 1952.

Six stamps form the fourth instalment in the series The Royal Legacy of Queen Victoria and feature photographs taken during the King’s reign.  Presented chronologically, they include an image of the King making his famous speech inaugurating the Empire Exhibition and another more relaxed image of the King perusing his stamp collection. The Miniature Sheet features a photograph of King George VI making a radio broadcast to the nation after the outbreak of World War II.
